I am a research engineer with a passion for building novel, seemingly-impossible camera systems. In particular, I specialize in leveraging compute to do what cannot be done with physics alone. I received my Ph.D. from the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Michigan under the advisory of Jeff Fessler, Ph.D in August 2022. My primary research includes:
- Deep Learning for Image Reconstruction
- Data-driven and interpretable image modeling
- Optimization theory for large-scale problems
I am particularly interested in applications to
computational photography and have worked on compressive light-field capture and reconstruction, image sharpening, image demosaicing, image denoising, multi-frame image de-aliasing and super-resolution, and compressive MR imaging.
Outside of my imaging algorithms research, I also enjoy working on imaging hardware, including circuit design and embedded systems for cameras. I enjoy doing holography (a research topic of mine during my undergrad at BYU) and microscopy and hope to get first hand experience with other imaging methods. I enjoy solving math and programming puzzles.
